Welcome! Malcolm here...
My name is Malcolm Keif. I have a strong background in data analytics, data modeling and workflow automation from teaching these subjects at Cal Poly over the past several years. I look forward to working with you on your data science projects.
I have spent the vast majority of my career in academia and working as a professor at Cal Poly. While that may sound too theoretical for some, I am entrepreneurial at heart and have spent most of my higher-ed career solving business problems, not theoretical problems. My department at Cal Poly focuses on graphics, marketing and print manufacturing, and my focus within that space has largely been on research, workflow optimization, data analytics and process improvement. I enjoy problem solving through research and experimental design…collecting relevant data, analyzing the data and developing actionable insights for real-world problems.
As a data enthusiast, I am a voracious learner. I am inquisitive and use curiosity as a way to drive experimentation. I am a firm believer in reviewing published solutions, followed by exploring new relationships among variables and seeking input from appropriate stakeholders who often know more about what drives outcomes. Actionable insights are a result of observation, curiosity and applying proven research approaches such as hypothesis testing, correlation and regression analysis, analysis of variance and DOE methodologies. Data is the DNA that facilitates innovation.
